Weekly Recap 2/3: The $83 Million Verdict

There are times I sit in bewilderment, not understanding how millions of Americans can watch the former president get hit with an $83 million verdict for defaming a woman he sexually assaulted and not give up on the man.

Every time Trump got indicted, his fundraising didn’t dry up. Instead, it shot UP. I have never been able to answer why so many have given up on morals, ethics, and let’s be honest, reality. They cannot be reasoned with.

Which is why, when it comes to doing the work to win all of the races in November, I ask you to ignore trying to convert the MAGA faithful, but instead talk to fellow Democrats and left leaning Independents to make sure they know what’s at stake in this election and make sure they vote.

With that, let’s get into some good news.

Good News

The Oregon Supreme Court agreed with a lower court decision that found the 10 state legislators who staged a 6 week walkout can’t run for re-election, per the new law (Measure 113) voters passed in 2022.

Thanks to the Biden administration, Medicare is negotiating for lower drug prices with Big Pharma, targeting 10 of the most widely used and expensive drugs, for the first time ever.

The US economy grew faster than any other advanced economy, and is trending to so that again in 2024. GRAPHIC

New economic analysis shows that under Biden, the Black unemployment rate was under 6% for a full year. That’s the lowest in recorded history.

The US added more jobs than expected in January.

Three former Republican governors signed on to an amicus brief to the Supreme Court arguing that Donald Trump is disqualified from running for president under the Fourteenth Amendment.

Trump’s presidential campaign has spent $77 million for his legal fees over the last two years.

A member of the white supremacist White Lives Matter group was sentenced to 18 years in federal prison for firebombing an Ohio church that had been planning to host two drag events.

Pennsylvania’s highest court signaled they were ready to recognize abortion access as a right protected by the state’s constitution.

Kevin McCarthy, a prolific fundraiser, is planning all-out revenge on the 8 Republicans who were key to his ouster as Speaker. He wants them to lose their jobs, too.

In related news, the House Ethics Committee is still investigating Matt Gaetz and recently reached out to one of his ex-girlfriends.

A San Diego man was arrested after his 14-year-old son threatened to shoot up his high school with his guns. Police searched his property using the red flag law Moms Demand Action volunteers passed in 2016 and found 29 assault rifles, ghost guns and 3D printers.

  3. Where did you get the legal information that Trump sexually assaulted the woman from. I have never heard this before. A jury from democrat NY found him guilty of defaming her. I have never heard where he has ever been proven guilty by any law of the sexually assault.

    • The news. May 9, 2023: “A jury found Donald Trump liable Tuesday for sexually abusing advice columnist E. Jean Carroll in 1996.” The defamation case came after this jury decision.
