Weekly Recap: Kristi Noem Crosses a Line

recap

The only good thing about the Kristi Noem debacle (see the cartoons below if you’re not sure what I’m referencing) is that apparently, there are sins you can commit in the GOP that Republican voters will not let slide.

Beyond that, it’s just a sad story about yet another politician debasing themselves for Trump. It’s gross and scary what some people will do to get close to power.

Let’s put that ugliness aside and get into some good news.

Good News

A progressive group in South Dakota, yes the same state where Kristi Noem is governor, announced they’ve gotten enough signatures to get an abortion amendment into the November ballot.

And then a group in Missouri announced that they too have gotten enough signatures to qualify to get their abortion amendment on the November ballot, too!

The Biden administration cancelled another $6 billion in debt for students who attended the Art Institutes, a chain of colleges that went bankrupt amidst fraud allegations.

The DEA has started the process to move marijuana from the Schedule 1 list (where heroin is) down to Schedule 3 (where anabolic steroids are.)

The Arizona legislature passed, and then Gov . Katie Hobbs (D) signed, a bill that repealed AZ’s 1864 law that banned abortion. (This does not alter the plan to ask voters to also pass an amendment in November to guarantee access to abortion.)

The number of active users on Trump’s social media platform fell by 19% over the last year.

Biden announced in North Carolina that $3 billion will go to replace toxic lead pipes and deliver clean drinking water in every state.

Household wealth for those under 40 in the U.S. is up 49% from its pre-pandemic level, per data from the Federal Reserve.

The Biden administration announced an expansion of health insurance to include Dreamers.

  1. People don’t get to vote for “irrelevance,” or “uncommitted,” or such cynical hogwash. If you don’t vote for Biden, you have voted for Trump.
