Illinois has its statewide primary election on Tuesday, March 20. Here are a few facts about the state and three key races, with the names of the Democratic candidates and links to their campaign websites.
The winner of the primary is determined by the candidate who receives the most votes. Illinois does not have a run off elections for the primaries. Additionally, Illinois has an open primary. Illinois voters do not have to register their party affiliation in advance because voters announce which primary they want to vote in at their polling place.
