Weekly Recap 4/20: So Sleepy

Weekly Recap

President Biden and the Democrats are playing offense while Trump sits in a courtroom. I don’t mind how that is playing out every day on the news. I know most voters have not yet started to pay attention to the November election, but for those who are… I like where things stand right now.

Good News

Nevada Supreme Court ruled to allow the abortion measure to be on the ballot this November.

The Nevada Supreme Court also reversed a lower court ruling and upheld the state’s life-saving ban on ghost guns.

Trump has 270,000 fewer unique donors than he did at this same point in his 2020 White House run.

The Kennedy family came out and publicly endorsed Biden.

The Senate has voted to reject both impeachment articles against Homeland Secretary Mayorkas, finding them to be unconstitutional. This essentially ends the impeachment.

On Tuesday, Democrats won two special elections for the Michigan House which restores their majority in that chamber as well as their trifecta in the state.

Do you remember Natalie Cline? She was the Utah official who bullied a student athlete online by falsely claiming she was transgender. It was so egregious that the Utah legislature (majority Republican) censured her. Well, this week she lost her nomination for re-election to the State Board of Education.

The economy, under Biden, is on track to grow at double the rate of any other G7 country.

New statistics came out that confirmed that homicides and other violent crime has plummeted in the last year.

And while Trump spent the entire week nodding off in a courtroom, Biden was crisscrossing Pennsylvania, one of the most important swing states for Democrats in 2024, holding events and talking to voters.

Call to Action

Have you ever explored Mobilize Us? Whenever you have some time to dedicate to volunteering to help Democrats win in November, that’s a great place to go to find opportunities that need your help. You can filter the search by where you live if you like to do things in person, or remote if you prefer to do things at home. You can also search for a candidate you want to help. I’ve also found a bunch of great trainings to learn how to do things, like phone or text bank.

I hope you’ll take 3 minutes today just to explore the opportunities at Mobilize Us. You don’t have to sign up — just check it out. Thank you!
