Another Week Full of Good News to Celebrate

I figured after the incredible amount of good news that we had last week, this week might be a bit quieter, and well… Let’s just say it wasn’t quieter! Here’s some great news to share!

Attorney General Merrick Garland confirmed that he signed off on the warrant the FBI used to search Mar-a-Lago and said the DOJ will move to unseal the warrant.

A new Fox News poll has the generic ballot tied with Democrats and Republicans each getting 41%. The GOP had a 3-point edge in June, and a 7-point advantage in May.

There were multiple stories this week from media outlets backing off their previous narrative that the Republicans would sweep the midterms, and instead showing that the Democrats’ position is steadily improving. Here are two of those stories: HERE and HERE

There was no inflation in the month of July.

A Virginia police officer who stormed the Capitol on January 6th was sentenced to 87 months in prison.

The FBI confiscated Rep. Scott Perry’s (R-PA) cell phone. (Remember the headline that Mark Meadows had burned documents about the Big Lie after he met with Scott Perry in December 2020? Perry was in the thick of 1/6 planning.)

The national average price of gas fell back under the $4 mark per gallon for the first time since early March.

President Biden signed both the CHIPS Act and the ratification of the accession of Sweden and Finland to NATO this week.

After Biden signed the CHIPS Act, Micron announced that it will spend $40 billion on new chip-manufacturing facilities in the U.S. through the end of the decade.

Republicans continued to dig their grave as the “party of law and order” by denouncing the FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago even though they knew nothing about the search warrant.

Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts (R) announced he won’t be calling a special session of the legislature to ban abortion after 12 weeks because it doesn’t have the votes to pass. (The unicameral NE legislature has 32 Rs and 17 Ds. Ricketts needed 33 votes to call a special session, and he only had 30.)

Two years worth of right-wing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones’ text messages have been turned over to the January 6th Committee.

President Biden has appointed more federal judges at this stage in his tenure than any president since JFK. Biden has appointed 75 judges (as of Aug. 9th) while at this point Trump had only appointed 51 and Obama had appointed 42.

Have a good weekend!
