
The news was dominated this week by the total chaos that has engulfed the House Republicans thanks to Kevin McCarthy’s weak leadership. Normally, I put this kind of disarray in the good news category, but a government shutdown will hurt hundreds of thousands of innocent people, so I can’t do that.
That said, there was plenty of actual good news this week!
Good News
A Taylor Swift Instagram post drove record-breaking web traffic to Vote.org this week and helped the site register more than 35,000 new voters!
Democrats kept control of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives after Lindsay Powell (D) won an open seat in a special election in the Pittsburgh area!
Hal Rafter (D) flipped a swing seat in a special election for the New Hampshire state House. The upset puts Democrats just one seat away from erasing the GOP’s majority in the chamber!
On National Voter Registration Day, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro announced that the state will implement automatic voter registration!
