1 Reason Why Every Left-Leaning Voter Should Care About the California Recall

California Governor Gavin Newsom

If you’re not in California, you may not be paying too much attention to the gubernatorial recall election which takes place next week.

Big mistake. Let me explain.

California Senator Dianne Feinstein is 88 years old. If anything were to happen to her, the governor of California gets to appoint someone to that seat. If we defeat this recall, Governor Gavin Newsom (D) would appoint a Democrat, but if we don’t, the leading Republican candidate (a radio show host with no political experience) has already said he’d appoint a Republican.

I know I don’t need to remind you (but I will anyway) that if Feinstein’s seat becomes open and California has a Republican governor, the U.S. Senate will shift to 51-49 with the Republicans in the majority and that makes Mitch McConnell Majority Leader. Like, immediately.

None of us can afford to let that happen.

So please, do what you can to raise awareness of this recall election. Every California voter has had a ballot sent to them a few weeks ago. All they have to do is vote NO on question 1 and return the ballot. We do NOT want Governor Newsom recalled. Feel free to post this article on your social media account, or share someone else’s post about the election.

Thank you for your help.

  1. Scary. I agree with no recall, but I also wish Feinstein would consider retiring. It’s RBG all over again…people hold on to their positions longer than they should.
