Protecting our democracy was picked as one of the top priorities for 2021 by Political Charge readers in our annual survey. One of the ways we can tackle that is by being engaged around elections year-round.
Turnout drops by A LOT in what is called “off-cycle” elections, unless there is a monumental effort like in the Georgia runoff elections. And historically, Democratic turnout falls quite a bit more than Republican turnout. At a time when Republicans everywhere are embracing the most radical beliefs and voter suppression tactics, I believe we can’t afford to not fight hard for every position in government.
When I publish these monthly calendars, I encourage you to take at least one action to help build awareness of these elections. I have a few suggestions as to how to do this below. Thank you for taking action!
