The Week’s Best Cartoons 10/31

By Matt Wuerker, Politico

I can’t quite believe it, but this is our last cartoon roundup before the election!! So, not surprisingly, there are a lot of election related cartoons. Really good ones. Plus, with COVID spiking around the nation, we have some (frankly tough) cartoons on that subject and the bummer news that Amy Coney Barrett did get confirmed to the Supreme Court. We close this edition with a nod to Tom Toles, the longtime Washington Post editorial cartoonist, who retired yesterday.

  1. My Heart is filled with gratitude for Tom Toles.

  2. Good selection, as always. I will re-blog via WP’s ‘Press This’ as usual at 3:00 a.m. I did not realize that Tom Toles was retiring! He will be sorely missed.

    • Yeah, he announced on Twitter a few weeks ago that he was retiring. So each week as I’d go through the cartoons, I’d been making sure to include a few of his. A lot of his fellow cartoonists couldn’t believe he’d hang up his hat right before the election. But I guess when you’re done, you’re done.

      • I’m sad to see him go, but like you said, ‘when you’re done, you’re done.’ Some people — musicians, actors, and the like — hang on way past their expiry date!
