The Week’s Best Cartoons 6/20

By John Darkow

Editorial cartoonists appear to be one of the last groups of people who speak out and say exactly what’s happening. They reveal what’s really going on behind all the pomp and circumstance in front of cameras and reporters, and entertain us along the way. Although to be clear, they’re not necessarily “funny.”

Here are our great editorial cartoonists on what they saw in the news this week.

  1. whoa! a particularly smack in the face collection this week. thanks!!!!

    • Thanks, Andrea. Did you have a particular favorite? I love to hear which ones resonate with you all!

      • Kartoon by Kallaugher–it’s what kept me awake last night–no vaccine for racism. Not even a face mask.

      • There is definitely no quick fix for racism. But could each generation become less racist? I think it’s possible. With work.

  2. I can never choose a favourite … they all resonate! I loved the first batch about the Supreme Court decision to include the LGBT community in civil rights protections. And the one by the Lincoln Project was great. Thanks for compiling these!

  3. Reblogged this on Filosofa's Word and commented:
Every Saturday, TokyoSand takes the time to compile a collection of the week’s best political cartoons, and this week is no exception. Thank you, TS, for your hard work and your permission to share!

  4. The political cartoonists must be exhausted trying to keep abreast of all the trumpian material thrown their way on a daily basis. Their pencils must be worn to the ferrules and their pens run out of ink! I am hard pressed to choose a favorite this week. I very much like the one by Ann Telnaes and have fun just identifying the characters. The Lincoln Project’s is at the top of my likes list too. If I must choose a favorite, it is the fitting to our times 2017 Signe Wilkinson Dreamers cartoon, and then again there is…! Thank-you!
