We’ve got some good news from the elections last night, and have a few key races that now have their Democratic candidate set for the general. Here’s what we learned.

U.S. Senate

IDAHO:  Paulette Jordan won the Democratic primary to take on Senator Jim Risch in the general. Support Jordan’s campaign

IOWA:  Theresa Greenfield won the Democratic primary to take on Senator Joni Ernst in the general. Support Greenfield’s campaign

MONTANA:  Steve Bullock won the Democratic primary to take on Senator Steve Daines in the general. Support Bullock’s campaign

U.S. House

The big news of the night was that white supremacist Rep. Steve King lost his primary. Take a moment to celebrate, yes, then realize that the Republican who beat him ran on a campaign that King hadn’t done nearly enough to help Trump build his wall. We need to flip this seat. Thankfully, the Democrats have a terrific candidate in J.D. Scholten. Support his campaign HERE.

In Pennsylvania’s 10th district, which is a potential red-to-blue pickup, Eugene DePasquale won the Democratic primary and will face incumbent Republican Scott Perry in the general. Support DePasquale’s campaign HERE.

A First

The voters in Ferguson, Missouri elected Ella Jones to be their first black mayor last night. She won with 54% of the vote. HuffPo noted that Jones had previously broken another barrier when she became the first black woman to serve on the Ferguson City Council back in 2015, the year following the Ferguson Protests.

Special Election

The Democrats flipped a Massachusetts state House seat last night! Congratulations to Carol Doherty for flipping the Third Bristol District!
