The Week’s Best Cartoons 5/30

Editorial cartoonists appear to be one of the last groups of people who speak out and say exactly what’s happening. They reveal what’s really going on behind all the pomp and circumstance in front of cameras and reporters, and entertain us along the way. Although to be clear, they’re not necessarily “funny.” Especially this week.

Here are our great editorial cartoonists on what they saw in the news this week.

  1. Wow some doozies in here this week. Thanks as always for sharing!

    • Sure thing! You might find this interesting: It was only temporary, but Instagram took down my post because of the Weyand cartoon. It got flagged for being “false and harmful.” However, upon review, they restored it.

  2. Due to my extreme fondness of political cartoons, I have them landing daily amidst my inbox from various sources and I never grow tired of them even when they have already been seen. I love to peruse your weekly collection and you never fail to offer the best. The challenge this week to draw on The New York Times cover produced some excellent cartoons and you have shared my favorite of those by Ed Hall. I always enjoy the Claytoonz and today there are two. I may have shared this quote from Tom Tomorrow about being a political cartoonist, but it definitely must be the same for most of them these past weeks : “To keep doing this job [draw political cartoons] week after week, I think you have to want to change the world, while understanding you can’t. You have to hold both of those contradictory ideas simultaneously.” Thank-you!

  3. Wow! Thanks for sharing. I miss reading cartoons in covid times!

    • Glad you enjoyed them. If you haven’t already, consider subscribing to my blog so you automatically get the cartoons in your inbox every Saturday!
