Yesterday, the House Intelligence Committee released the official Trump-Ukraine Impeachment Inquiry Report. They also voted on the report (which passed) and it has now been given to the House Judiciary Committee, whose job it is to turn it into articles of impeachment.
The full report is 300 pages long and you can read it in full HERE. If you’re up for some light reading, consider reading the executive summary, which is only about 20 pages long. But, if you want to know the top-line highlights in less than 2 minutes, here they are:
If you only read one sentence: “As this report details, the impeachment inquiry has found that President Trump, personally and acting through agents within and outside of the U.S. government, solicited the interference of a foreign government, Ukraine, to benefit his reelection.”
The report details 8 findings on the President’s misconduct:
🔹The President forced out the U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine
🔹The President put Giuliani and the Three Amigos in charge of Ukraine issues
🔹The President froze military assistance to Ukraine
🔹The President’s meeting with the Ukrainian President was conditioned on an announcement of investigations
🔹The President asked the Ukrainian President to interfere in the 2020 U.S. election by investigating the Bidens and 2016 election interference
🔹The President wanted Ukraine to announce the investigations publicly
🔹The President’s conditioning of military assistance and a White House meeting on announcement of investigations raised alarm
🔹The President’s scheme was exposed
The second part of the report finds that Trump obstructed the impeachment inquiry in 5 ways:
🔹His categorical refusal to comply
🔹His refusal to produce any and all subpoenaed documents
🔹His refusal to allow top aides to testify
🔹His unsuccessful attempts to block key witnesses
🔹His intimidation of witnesses
On top of these findings, the report includes details that did not come out during the hearings, namely, that the Democrats subpoenaed and got phone records for many of the people involved in the president’s scheme. The phone records show HOW they coordinated their efforts. And who shows up smack dab in the middle of this section of the report? None other than Rep. Devin Nunes, the ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee.
One last quote to wrap this up: “President Trump and his senior officials may see nothing wrong with using the power of the Office of the President to pressure a foreign country to help the President’s reelection campaign. Indeed, President Trump continues to encourage Ukraine and other foreign countries to engage in the same kind of election interference today. However, the Founding Fathers prescribed a remedy for a chief executive who places his personal interests above those of the country: impeachment.”

It’s pretty damning isn’t it? Too bad the other side is so partisan and so attached to Trump that they cannot and will care. It’s a real travesty.
It really is. They started by saying he did nothing wrong, and now they’re admitting that he did it but saying “so what?”
Yep..that’s the defense. Ok, maybe he did it..but it doesn’t rise to the level of impeachment. I think we’re on the right side of this. In fact, I know we are.
