A Moment of Silence…For Yourself

If you’re anything like me, you’ve been thinking a lot about the folks who were killed or wounded in this weekend’s multiple mass shootings. So, today, I want you to take a moment of silence for yourself.

What do I mean? Well, I was wrestling with what I wanted to say today to you all when I ran across this tweet by Sally Yates:

The line that stood out to me was: “Each of us owns our individual response.” I agree completely. Nothing changes if nothing changes. I don’t pretend to know how you respond to these shootings. But I do know there is a wide range of responses we can each individually take to rectify the situation, and many more of us can be doing a whole lot more.

Politicians aren’t the only ones who must respond. There are so many ways each of us could respond, but we must take action. We are responsible for our own actions. If we each take action, the collective wave across this country might finally move the needle.

So today, take a moment of silence and reflect on how you will respond. To these shootings and all the others that will continue to happen until we enact some real change in the country. What action will you take that will move the needle?

  1. Mrs. Yates doesn’t tweet very often, but when she does it’s always worth noting. Unfortunately it’s usually when this president has either said or done something awful in regards to the laws of our land. She stood up to him early on and wouldn’t it be nice if we had more like her in the Justice Dept. who would do the same?

    • Yes, she makes her tweets count. I hope that when we get Trump out of office, the next president can entice experienced, career folks to come back to federal service.

      • I believe that will happen. I really do. Thankfully, I think we have many people in our federal government like Yates…good decent people who believe what they’re doing is a worthy endeavor. In fact, if not for these particular people…..holy crap…I don’t even want to think where we’d be.
