Sunday morning is a good time to linger over some thought-provoking pieces, isn’t it?
Dehumanizing Always Starts With Language
Brené Brown, a research professor at the University of Houston who studies dehumanization, writes about the difference between physical safety and emotional safety, and how the latter leads to dehumanization. It doesn’t happen all at once, but rather is a process, and one we should all be really clear about, and not just because of what happened at Trump’s rally this past week.
Memo to Dems: You’re Playing Into Trump’s Hands
Charles Sykes, author of the book “How the Right Lost Its Mind,” walks through the 1972 election and all the ways that 2020 is shaping up to be exactly like that. I’m always wary when a Republican, even a never-Trumper, tries to give us advice about 2020. That said, he is absolutely right that if the Democrats want to win the White House, we need to win the Electoral College.
