Want to help kick Mitch McConnell out of the Senate?
Mitch McConnell is the most unpopular Senator in Congress today and it’s not hard to figure out why. He has been accused of actively destroying our democracy and Senate norms. Under his watch in the 116th Congress, the Senate has taken up fewer bills passed by the House than any other Senate in recent memory. Want a longer list of why Mitch McConnell should lose his seat? Now, a little truth talk. In 2016, Trump won Kentucky by 30 points, and his net approval in the state is still above water. McConnell will be on the same ballot as Trump in 2020 and that might be all that it takes.
However, McConnell is one of the least popular senators in Congress, and he “has a 36% approval and 50% disapproval rating in Kentucky.” (Source) Amy McGrath won the Democratic primary and has been raising a ton of money, which puts her in as good a position as possible to challenge the deeply entrenched McConnell. Watch this excellent video as to why she’s running:
Here’s 5 ways you can help flip McConnell’s seat:
1. Support Amy McGrath’s campaign. You can make a donation HERE. Remember: Every dollar McConnell has to spend fighting off Amy McGrath is a dollar he can’t spend on other vulnerable Senate seats. You can sign up to volunteer HERE. Follow her on Twitter HERE and amplify her messages.
2. Help with voter registration drives in the state. A recent article in Governing reported that the number of Republican voters registering in Kentucky has gone up by 12% since 2016, but the number of Democrats has gone down slightly. As one idea, share Rock the Vote’s voter registration page for Kentucky (HERE) on your social media pages.
3. Support the Kentucky Democratic party. Donate to them, ask them how you can help with voter registration drives, or boosting the number of volunteers they have to help with campaigns.
4. Support Kentucky’s League of Women Voters. They organize voter registration drives and have events to inform and connect voters with the candidates.
5. Donate to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. The organization is solely focused on electing a Democratic Senate. So far for the 2020 Election cycle, the DSCC has raised a touch over $49M (while the Republican’s counterpart has raised $54M.)
If you have other ideas of how we can support voter registration and Amy McGrath’s campaign, particularly for folks outside the state, please let us know in the comments. Thanks!

I would like to do phone banking or something long distance to help Amy. I live in NC. Mitch McConnell is a scourge on our country.
Fantastic! I would let the campaign know, for starters. Then, I’d keep an eye out for phonebanking events at https://www.mobilize.us.
Go to amymcgrath.com
I pray for Any McGraff every day. The NRA is an evil lobbying group and Moscow Mitch is in bed with them.
I want to donate to Amy but I do not donate
Through ActBlue. What is her campaign address?
There’s a campaign address at the bottom of this webpage: https://amymcgrath.com
I would like to donate a small amount by mail for Amy. What is mailing address. I live in Florida where it’s not who you vote for but who counts the vote. Good luck. KK M
If you go to her website, there is an address at the bottom of the main page.
My husband &I do not do financial things online, but very much wish to donate to Amy McGrath’s campaign for Senate. Can you give us an address, please?
Sure. If you go to her main campaign website, scroll to the bottom and there is a mailing address where you can send checks. https://amymcgrath.com
I want to donate to Amy. What is her campaign address?
I want to send money directly to her against McConnell. I need her address.

I live in CT and would really like to help in some way. Unfortunately, my husband’s work company (a financial company) makes it impossible for us to contribute financially. So I cannot donate money but I am willing to help in other ways (maybe phone banking).
I find Mitch McConnell to be an evil force especially after his obstruction to Obama’s nomination to the Supreme Court. I probably could gather 5-8 people to come down to KY for a weekend next summer to help with voter registration, canvassing or whatever. I am involved with my local Democratic Town Committee and have done canvassing for State Senators and Representatives both inside and outside my district. I also have done a lot of phone banking. Our outreach committee has organized events locally too – debate watches at a local bar and aameet candidates at a local bagel shop. Please let me know if I can be helpful in anyway.
That’s great, Marilyn. I would encourage you to
check out Open Progress, which is a texting program. They do voter outreach all year and all types of races.
Get Mitch McConnell’s nasty rhetoric about Amy off of Amy’s social media sites.
If we’re going to win, we need to ensure we’re getting folks who care about local issues like coal, water, the transition to a sustainable economy, economic justice, voting rights, and racial justice to turn out.
Kentuckians for the Commonwealth is really good at that, with a base in rural areas and small towns. Check them out at http://kftc.org/ and consider donating
I have frontage on Hwy. 60 in Breckinridge Co. that Amy can use for signs, billboard or whatever .LMK if she is going to be in Breckinridge Co.Tks.
I would inform her campaign directly.
I would like to send a check. I do not want to do it online. Do you have an address I can mail a check.

Please have Amy capitalize on the fact that Moscow Mitch has single handedly kept the voting rights bill from coming to a vote on the floor…IT IS TIME AND WE NEED AMY TO BE VOCAL ABOUT HER SUPPORT. Not only that but be vocal about the other HUNDREDS of bills he has been sitting on for YEARS! One person, neither Democrat nor Republican, should have that much power. We need a way for the Senate to over ride the power of the ONE person at the head of the senate to open discussion and bring a vote on important legislation to Americans.
I agree that McConnell has way too much power, but that’s how our Senate is designed, for now. Let’s vote him out of office, or at least make him minority leader. (But to be clear, I don’t work with the Amy McGrath campaign, so if you have any messages for her, I’d reach out directly to the campaign.)
I was going to send another check to support Amy McGrath’s campaign. However when I received my bank statement I saw that my check dated 7/26 was never cashed. Was the check received? The other check dated 7/6 was cashed.
I’m not connected to her campaign. I suggest you reach out to the campaign directly.
Any thing some one in Mo can do volunteering to defeat Moscow Mitch?
Most of the actions I recommend in this article can be done from afar. You might also check with the campaign to see if you can phone- or text-bank for them.
I agree with everyone ,I’m from Arizona and I feel the same way, go Amy lets vote McConnell out, praying for all democrats to win all
I’m a Republican and I hope McConnell loses.
Glad to hear it. Wish more Kentuckians felt that way.
