We love to talk about the rating that any given election race gets, but do we know what all goes into that rating? Since the first ratings for the 2019 races and even the 2020 Senate races are starting to show up, I thought it was a good time to look into them.

The people whose job it is to determine the ratings have various methods they’ve shaped over the years to get it as right as possible. Roll Call’s elections analyst, Nathan Gonzales,  just created a short explainer video that does a good job of explaining it. (Warning: He likes goofy jokes, but let it go because his info is good.)
