Sunday Reading: What Caught My Eye This Week

Grab your coffee and check out these three really smart articles. These stood out to me this week, and I think you’ll find them interesting, too. Enjoy!

Russian-Style Kleptocracy Is Infiltrating America
This is an unflinching and deeply engrossing look into how the fall of the U.S.S.R. led to a spread of that country’s elites bringing their kleptocratic ways across the globe. The story starts with an insightful CIA agent’s warning to Congress in 1999 and ends with the administration we have in our White House. A must-read article in The Atlantic.

What’s the National Enquirer So Afraid Of?
Politico Magazine looks into the Enquirer’s long relationship with Trump and the clues we have about why they tried to extort Jeff Bezos. The implications of what they did could be ENORMOUS, so it’s good to have this background info.

A Racial Reckoning for Democratic Leaders in Virginia
Jelani Cobb penned this New Yorker piece about the situation in Virginia. He looks at what he refers to as the “ambient racism” in Virginia and looks at why some in the region have pressed pause on the calls for resignation.

If you read any interesting articles this week, let me know about them in the comment section!
