It is SO good to be in the majority!

What do the Democrats stand for? If you’re tired of hearing that from people, give them this list. These are the issues the Democrats are tackling first now that they have the majority in the House. They now chair the various committees and have the ability to set the agenda, and thereby, the hearings.

Beyond the hearings to consider the voting rights and anti-corruption bill HR1, here’s a look into the hearings that the Democrats in the House are holding:

✦ a hearing via the Ways and Means Committee on protecting Americans with pre-existing conditions

✦ a hearing via the Ways and Means Oversight subcommittee to discuss a bill that would require presidents, vice presidents and major party nominees to release 10 years of tax returns

✦ a hearing via the Judiciary Committee on gun violence prevention (for the first time in 8 years)

✦ a hearing via the Armed Services Committee on the level of, and an explanation of, the number of troops deployed at the U.S./Mexico border

✦ a hearing via the Energy and Commerce Committee’s panel on technology on the FCC’s repeal of net neutrality rules

✦ a hearing via the Social Security subcommittee on a bill to expand and protect Social Security (which hasn’t happened in 10 years)

✦ a hearing via the Oversight Committee into the White House’s handling of its security clearance process

I’m going to say it again. It’s SO good to be in the majority!
