While all eyes were on the election fraud case in North Carolina’s 9th district, the reporters at WECT9 were looking into a second case in a neighboring county.
Their original reporting can be found here: NC election fraud: Concerning number of absentee ballots not returned in Columbus Co.
Here’s a quick summary of what they’ve found:
✦ Columbus County and Bladen County are neighbors, but are in a different congressional districts (NC 7th and NC 9th, respectively).
✦ Normally, roughly ~15% of absentee ballots aren’t returned, but in Columbus it was over 30% in this election.
✦ 557 absentee ballots were requested but 181 (32%) were not returned, and here’s the kicker, most of the missing ballots were mailed to Democrats.
✦ Leading up to the election, the race was considered very tight. The incumbent sheriff, Democrat Lewis Hatcher, lost to Republican Jody Greene by 57 votes.
✦ The man in the middle of the NC 9th district election fraud case, McCrae Dowless, was also working for Jody Greene, the Republican candidate.
This story is clearly developing. I recommend checking back in on WECT9 reporting to get updates.
P.S. I’m really glad to see so many media outlets that are using the correct term, i.e. “election fraud,” instead of “voter fraud” to talk about these illegalities. Voter fraud places the blame on the voter, and in these cases in North Carolina, the voters are most certainly the people who have had fraud perpetrated on THEM. Republican operatives are literally stealing and trashing their votes.
